The Upper Cape (Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich, Mashpee, Barnstable) extends from the Cape Cod Canal to the Mid Cape. In the Upper Cape area, the Cape is much wider than in the narrower Mid Cape. Weather can be very different there, as well. There is a wide variety of beautiful scenery in this part of the Cape, from the views of boating in the Canal and of the Canal itself to beautiful beaches along the north side in Sandwich and Barnstable. Falmouth boasts the only bike trail with direct access to the ocean, along Nantucket Sound, with views of Martha's Vineyard. Woods Hole, the center for oceanographic work, offers many photo opportunities as well. Sandwich and Bourne are accessible from Route 6, exits 55-63. Falmouth and Mashpee are accessible via Routes 28 and 151. Barnstable is accessible from Route 6 on exits 65 andd 68. Photos above were taken at the Sagamore Bridge, the Cape Cod Canal Bikepath, Sandwich Coast Guard Station,
Shining Sea Bike Path (several pictures), Sippewisset Beach, Woods Hole Harbor (several pictures),
Nobska Lighthouse, and Oyster Pond Road.
